Caption: Mealworm spaghetti. View of a spaghetti dish containing edible mealworms. Mealworms are the larvae of the darkling beetle (Tenebrio sp.), which infests granaries and bakeries. Other larvae which are found in meal and flour are also sometimes called mealworms. The eating of insects, entomophagy, occurs all over the world, and includes moths, grasshoppers and ants. Insects, along with arachnids like spiders and scorpions, are good sources of carbohydrates, fats and proteins. Photographed in Mexico City, Mexico.
