Caption: Atlas beetle. This beetle (Chalcosoma caucasus), also known as the giant three-horned beetle, is one of the largest insects in the world, measuring up to 13 centimetres in length. Only males have the three large horns (upper centre). Its unfurled wings (centre left and right) and wings cases (elytra, upper left and right) are also seen. It is found in the hills and mountains of South East Asia, where it feeds on plant matter.
