Caption: Dung beetle (family Scarabaeidae) rolling a ball of fresh dung on the forest floor. Dung beetles feed almost exclusively on the dung of herbivores. They also lay their eggs in dung balls, with the larva feeding on the surrounding dung until it metamorphosises into an adult. Photographed in the Jatun Sacha Reserve in the Ecuadorian Amazon.
