Caption: Common cockchafer (Melontha melontha). Melontha beetles are large brown insects noted for their noisy, clumsy, buzzing flight on early summer evenings. They live for a few months and damage trees by feeding on leaves and flowers. The larvae, large white grubs, live underground and can take 3 years to mature.
