Caption: Long-horned beetle (Monochamus sartor). This beetle is found in mountainous regions of central Europe. It feeds on shoots and branches of spruce, fir and other coniferous trees. The female lays eggs in dying trees and sawn logs. Newly hatched larvae feed on the wood below the bark, causing significant damage.
