Caption: A blue Rove Beetle (Family Staphylinidae, probably Bledius sp.) from the Peruvian Amazon. These beetles are generally found in pairs and when disturbed they raise the tip of the abdomen in a threatening manner and then roll over onto their backs with their jaws widely spread. Most rove beetles are predacious. Photographed in Loreto, Peru.
