Caption: Elephant beetle (Megasoma actaeon). This beetle is one of the largest insect species in the world, with adults growing to about 12 centimetres long and 7 centimetres wide. On their heads, they have a thick central horn resembling an elephant's trunk, which is flanked by two smaller horns that resemble tusks. The elephant beetle typically lives in the rain forests of South America. Photographed in Petit-Saut, French Guiana.
