Caption: Gypsy moth. Macrophotograph of a male gypsy moth (Lymantria dispar). The male has large feathery antennae (orange, upper left and right) which can detect female moths from great distances. This moth is found in forests and woodland throughout the temperate regions of the world. The caterpillars feed on leaves, and have caused extensive defoliation in some places. Magnification unknown.
