Caption: Moth head. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of the head of an unidentified moth. The two large compound eyes (red) dominate the head. Two long antennae are mounted on the top of the head. Together with the maxillary palps (mouthparts that are seen between the eyes) they sense movement and smell. One of the moth's legs is at lower right. The wings are seen on either side of the body. Magnification: x30 at 6x7cm size.
