Caption: Magpie moth (Abraxas grossulariata) on a leaf. Although once common, this moth is becoming rare in Britain. It is native to much of the Palearctic region, from Europe to Japan, feeding on the leaves of trees and shrubs and living in woods, gardens and hedges. The adult has a wingspan of around 4 centimetres and emerges between June and August.
