Caption: Rothschildia aurota moth. This large moth is a member of the subfamily Saturniinae and typically has a wingspan of about 12 centimetres. Its patterned brown wings act as a means of camouflage, in order to evade predators. It is found mainly in Central and South America. Specimen obtained in Petit-Saut, French Guiana.
