Caption: Cobweb. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of a cobweb. Webs are spun by spiders to catch prey. They have silk threads coated in a sticky adhesive substance which traps and immobilises anything touching it. With the prey effectively paralysed, the spider can consume it at its leisure. Magnification unknown.
