Caption: Reef octopus (Octopus cyanea) hunting on coral rubble. It is using the membrane between its arms to trap small animals inside the coral on which it is perched. This octopus is common in the tropical Indo-Pacific region. It feeds mainly on crustaceans. It can change the colour and texture of its skin to camouflage itself from predators and prey. It spends much of its time hiding in a den. Unusually for an octopus it is active by day, which has earned it the alternative name day octopus. Photographed in the Andaman Sea, Thailand.
