Caption: Blue-spotted stingray (Taeniura lymma) burying itself in sand on the seabed. This ray, also known as the blue-spotted fantail ray, inhabits the oceans of the Indo-Pacific. It spends most of its time buried in the sand or under ledges. It breathes through spiracles that are located below its eyes. Two poisonous stings near the end of its tail are used in defence.
