Caption: Common blenny on a rock (Lipophrys pholis). This marine fish can reach up to 16 centimetres in length. It lives in shallow water and rock pools and feeds on barnacles and winkles which it is able to crack using its strong teeth. In spring it is known to leave the water and perch on rocks. The male blenny turns black during the breeding season.
