Caption: Hylomantis lemur (formerly Phyllomedusa lemur) is threatened with extenction across its range, the montane forests of lower Central America. Deforestation and the fungal infection chytridiomycosis are probable culprits for their rapid decline. These frogs deposit their eggs on leaves above a water source and glue the edges of the leaves together to form a funnel. The hatching tadpoles slide down the funnel and out the lower opening to drop into the water below.
