Caption: Rana Marsupial Andina frog (Gastrotheca riobambae). This frog is found only in Ecuador where it inhabits tropical and subtropical forests, rivers, shrublands and grasslands at high altitudes. It is currently (as of 2008) listed as an endangered species on the World Conservation Union (IUCN) Red List, meaning that it is likely to become extinct unless the circumstances threatening it improve. Its population has drastically declined over the last three generations by more than 50 per cent. Photographed in Pichincha, Ecuador.
