Caption: Measuring a turtle. Boy and man measuring a green turtle (Chelonia mydas). The green turtle lives in warm seas throughout the world, staying close to the coast. It feeds exclusively on aquatic plants, and can grow up to 1.5 metres in length and weigh up to 200 kilograms. The green turtle is entirely aquatic, apart from when the female returns to the beach where she was born to lay eggs. Photographed on New Caledonia, South Pacific.
