Caption: Green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas) with three remoras (Echeneis naucrates) attached to its under side. Green sea turtles are found in warm tropical waters. They are herbivorous, eating algae and sea grasses, and can grow up to 1.5 metres in length. During the breeding season, these turtles will migrate thousands of miles to return to their hatching site. Remoras have a symbiotic relationship with large sea animals. They have a sucking disk on the top of their heads that they use to attach to their host. They clean the host's skin of parasites and eat left-over scraps. The host's presence protects the remoras from predators. Photographed in the Red Sea, Egypt.
