Caption: Agama lizard (Agama agama) basking. The dominant male lizard or cock, unlike immature males and females, has a distinctive orange head. Like other reptiles it basks in the morning sun to raise its body temperature after the cold of night. The agama lizard can grow up to 25 centimetres in length and has well developed eyes and external ear openings (centre). Photographed in the Tsavo National Park, Kenya.
