Caption: Lesser long-nosed bat (Leptonycteris curasoae) feeding on the fruit of an organ pipe cactus (Cereus, or Stenocereus, thurberi). This bat inhabits the desert regions of Mexico and the extreme south-western USA. It feeds entirely on cactus flower nectar and fruit. The cacti rely on it as it pollinates their flowers and disperses their seeds.
