Caption: Heart-nosed bat (Cardioderma cor) swooping down on a beetle, high-speed photograph. The heart-nosed bat, a false vampire bat found in eastern Africa, has remarkably good hearing, being able to hear an insect walking on sand from two metres away. It will then swoop from its perch to seize its prey. It can also catch insects on the wing. During the day it joins a large tree-roosting colony.
