Caption: Stream of bats (order Chiroptera) flying out of Deer Cave at Mulu National Park, Sarawak. Every evening, millions of bats including free-tailed bats, wrinkle-lipped bats, lesser tail-less round leaf and orange-tube nosed bats emerge from this cave to feed at night. The areas surrounding the cave are known to be mosquito-free as a result of the bat's feeding habits. However, their emergence puts them at risk from predators such as bathawks and even pythons, which have been observed hanging from the roof of the cave mouth trying to snatch at passing bats.
