Caption: Atlantic spotted dolphins (Stenella frontalis) swimming underwater. These dolphins may reach a length of just over two metres and weigh over 100 kilograms. They inhabit offshore waters in the tropical Atlantic Ocean, but come into shallow water seasonally. Atlantic spotted dolphins live in groups (pods) of between 5 to 15 individuals, although in the open ocean pods may contain hundreds of individuals. Pods may also mingle with pods of other species, such as spinner dolphins The young are born without spots, which are gradually accumulated with age. Atlantic dolphins feed on fish and squid. Photographed off the Bahamas, in the Caribbean Sea.
