Caption: Common dolphins. Long-beaked common dolphins (Delphinus capensis) leaping out of the sea. These dolphins are found in all tropical, sub-tropical and warm temperate waters, mostly in coastal areas. Adults can reach lengths of up to 2.5 metres. They are social animals, living in large groups, or pods, that usually number 100 individuals, but that can number thousands. Common dolphins are fast swimmers and enjoy acrobatics. They are also highly vocal. Their calls sometimes being audible above water. They feed on a diet of fish and squid. Photographed in the Sea of Cortes, Mexico.
