Caption: Brown bear. View of a brown bear (Ursus arctos) moving through forest in late autumn. They are known as "grizzly bears" in the northwestern interior of North America. A fully grown brown bear has a body length of 2-3 metres and a body weight of up to 780 kg. They are basically vegetarian in nature, but will eat meat if necessary. They are extremely skilful at fishing for salmon. Brown bears are usually solitary animals. They spend the winter in a den in a state of half-sleep at normal body temperature. The brown bear is found in much of Eurasia and North America. Photographed in Aspen Forest, Colorado, USA.
