Caption: Young grizzly bear (Ursus arctos) with a photographer. The young are born in midwinter during the mother's winter resting period. They stay in the den until the spring and remain with their mother until they are a year old. The grizzly bear is omnivorous, eating a varied diet including vegetation, fish, rodents and carrion. Adults are usually solitary. The grizzly bear is found throughout much of Europe, Asia and North America. It inhabits river valleys, mountain forests and open meadows. It can grow to 3 metres tall and weigh over 700 kilograms.
