Caption: Coyote. Coyote (Canis latrans) howling to communicate with other coyotes. The coyote is sometimes called a prairie wolf as it is similar in appearance to the grey wolf. It feeds on small rodents, rabbits and carrion. It is most active at night, when it emits its characteristic sharp barks and long howls. The coyote is found in open country from Alaska to Central America. Photographed in Vermont, USA.
