Caption: Mountain lion. View of a mountain lion (Felis concolor) about to leap into a redrock canyon. The mountain lion is also known as the puma, the panther and the cougar. A fully grown mountain lion has a body length of 1-1.6 metres and a body weight of up to 100 kg. It is a solitary and territorial animal. The mountain lion preys on most species of mammals but seems to prefer deer. By nature mountain lions are active by day and night, however it has become strictly nocturnal in areas inhabited by man. It ranges from North America to South America. Photographed in San Juan County, Utah, USA.
