Caption: Female Asiatic lion (Panthera leo persica) resting. The Asiatic lion is critically endangered and is only found in Gir Forest National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary (also known as Sasan Gir National Park), India. There is a population of around 350 lions in the protected area. Poaching is still a major threat and local farmers kill the lions for attacking livestock.
