Caption: Weddell seal. Head of a Weddell seal (Leptonychotes weddelli). The Weddell seal is found in coastal waters and pack ice near to the Antarctic coast. In winter these seals are solitary, remaining in the warmer water beneath the sea ice and breathing through holes they make in the ice with their teeth. Their main prey are fish and squid.
