Caption: Pika. View of a pika (Ochotona princeps) collecting its winter food supply. The pika is a rat-sized mammal that weighs up to 180 g and has a body length of up to 21 cm. The pika lives in large colonies; however, within these colonies individuals maintain their own territory. The pika's diet consists of grass and flowers. Pikas do not hibernate. They reproduce in the spring and summer. Gestation lasts for about 30 days and the female gives birth to 2-5 young. The pika is found in rocky terrain in northwestern USA and western Canada.
