Caption: Eastern cottontail rabbit. Young eastern cottontail rabbit (Sylvilagus floridanus) feeding. Litters of over 10 young can be produced in warm conditions. The length of the breeding season and the number of litters per year is related to temperature. This rabbit is found throughout much of the US, as well as southern Canada and eastern Mexico. Eastern cottontail rabbits live in woodland and fields, where they feed on a wide variety of vegetation. Photographed in Badlands National Park in South Dakota, USA.
