Caption: White rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum) scratching its neck on a tree trunk. This large herbivore inhabits the grasslands and savanna of southern Sudan and South Africa. It is a solitary animal, feeding mainly on grasses. Its horns are believed to have aphrodisiac properties, which has led to extensive hunting, and it now ranks amongst the most endangered species in the world. Photographed in Hluhluwe, South Africa.
