Caption: Black rhinoceroses (Diceros bicornis). These large herbivores inhabit the open forests and scrub of south-eastern Africa. They eat mainly leaves and shoots, although their diet also includes tree bark. Black rhinos are renowned for their aggression, and will charge anything they perceive as a threat. Extensive hunting for their horns, which have long been thought of as an aphrodisiac, means that they are now highly endangered. Photographed in the Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania.
