Caption: Camel. Head of a dromedary camel (Camelus dromedarius). The dromedary is a desert animal native to northern Africa and the Middle East. The dromedary has been domesticated as a beast of burden for centuries, and no truly wild camels exist now, although feral "escapes" mimic the behaviour of their wild ancestors. The camel can go long periods without food as it can store fat in a large hump on its back. It can also survive a long time without water, and can withstand extremely high temperatures.
