Caption: White-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) buck reaching to eat a twig. These deer live throughout the Americas, except for northern Canada, southern South America and the south-western USA. They live in forests in small herds of between 10 and 20 animals. They eat leaves, grasses, herbs and small branches. They get their name from their white tail, which is flashed during flight to confuse their pursuers.
