Caption: Male fallow deer (Dama dama) feeding at dawn with a jackdaw (Corvus monedula) perched on its back. The jackdaw could be feeding on parasites in the fur. This deer is found throughout Europe and was introduced into Britain in the 11th Century. It spends most of its life living in a single sex herd, but the herds come together during the breeding season in the autumn. The fallow deer inhabits woodland and meadows, and feeds on grasses, leaves and berries. Photographed in November, in Charnwood Forest, Leicestershire, UK
