Caption: Kudu and oxpeckers. Head of a male kudu (Tragelaphus sp.) with two yellow-billed oxpeckers (Buphagus africanus) grasping onto its neck. This antelope lives in open forest and scrub in eastern and southern Africa. It is typically seen in small groups, most commonly feeding on leaves and shoots at night. Although it is a large animal it can jump more than 2 metres into the air. Only the males possess these large spiral horns. Yellow- billed oxpeckers spend most of their time on large grazing animals such as rhinoceroses and giraffes, feeding on ticks and flesh from skin wounds. They live in parts of sub-Saharan Africa.
