Blue wildebeest (Connochaetes taurinus), or brindled gnu. These animals inhabit the plains and woodlands of south-eastern Africa, grazing on fresh grass. They are social animals, living in herds numbering several thousands of individuals, especially when migrating great distances to reach fresh pasture. Both sexes grow short curved horns.
