Caption: Ancient Greek sarcophagus. Archaeologist operating a laser scanner to record the details of the sarcophagus of an ancient Greek athlete. This scanner will produce a precise 3-dimensional image giving a highly accurate spatial representation of the object's size and shape. This artefact dates from around the 6th Century BC and was found in Taranto, which used to be a Greek colony but is now in Southern Italy. Photographed at the National Archaeological Museum of Taranto, Italy, and dates from the 5th Century BC.
