Caption: Australopithecus skeleton fragments. Fossilised fragments of an Australopithecus boisei skeleton. A. boisei was a hominid that lived in East Africa. It is a robust australopithecine, and was heavier-built than the gracile australopithecines such as A. afarensis from which humans are thought to have evolved. These specimens were excavated from Koobi Fora, Kenya.
