Caption: Sooty tern (Onychoprion fuscatus) chick perching on a rock. This seabird is found on most tropical and subtropical coasts. It breeds 5 times in every 4 years, the interval between breedings (just under 10 months) being consistently maintained. The single egg is laid in a large colony of up to hundreds of thousands of birds. Photographed on Aride Island, in the Seychelles, a group of islands north of Madagascar in the Indian Ocean.
