Caption: Upsilon Andromedae planetary system. Computer artwork of extrasolar planets orbiting the star Upsilon Andromedae (bright, lower centre). This Sun-like star is 54 light years from Earth in the constellation Andromeda. The first planet, U. Andromedae b was found in June 1996, while U. Andromedae c and d were both discovered in April 1999. U. Andromedae c (large, top) is the second closest planet to the star and is thought to be a gas giant like Jupiter. It has an orbit of 242 days.
