Caption: Cutaneous horn growing on an elderly person's ear. Such horns arise from an overgrowth of the skin protein keratin. They are slow-growing and may vary in colour from yellow to black. Horns may appear on the sites of warts. Left alone, they may grow to a considerable size (2 cm), so surgical removal is usually performed.
