Caption: Italian book on surgery. First page of 'Practica in chirurgia' (1514) by the Italian surgeon Giovanni da Vigo (1450-1525). The artwork shows four physicians around the bed of a patient, one is taking the patient's pulse and another examining a jar of liquid, which is probably urine. The Latin text includes the book's title and the name of the author. The full title of this work is 'Practica in arte chirurgica copiosa'. Written by Vigo for his son Luigi, this book consisted of nine sections, listed here in the Latin text.
