Caption: Satyendra Bose (1894-1974), Indian physicist and mathematician, looking at a portrait of Albert Einstein. Bose's collaborations with Einstein led to Bose-Einsten statistics and the theory of the Bose-Einstein condensate. Both concepts involved identical particles with integer spin, which are now called bosons after Bose. Photographed in 1953.
