Caption: Moreton Bay fig (Ficus macrophylla) roots. This evergreen tree is native to Queensland and New South Wales, Australia. Its grows on an existing tree and has aerial roots that drop from widely extending horizontal branches. Eventually the roots completely cover the existing tree and serve as props for the whole massive fig tree structure. Here a newly developing root can be seen (centre).
