Caption: Arctic oceanography research. ROV (remotely operated vehicle) being deployed off the back of a boat using an A-frame. This is a tethered vehicle, controlled from its parent boat and used to explore and study underwater. Here, it is being deployed from the USCGC (US Coast Guard Cutter) Healy. The USCGC Healy is a polar icebreaker designed to be used for research activities. Photographed during 'The Hidden Ocean Arctic 2005 Exploration', an Arctic trip that took place from 27 June to 26 July 2005.
