Caption: ROV exploration of Titanic. Remotely operated vehicle (ROV) Hercules exploring the bow section of the shipwreck of RMS Titanic. The Titanic, the largest ocean liner of its day, sank on 15 April 1912 after hitting an iceberg in the northern Atlantic. Over 1500 people died. The ship broke in two as it sank, with the bow and stern sections 600 metres apart. The wreckage was discovered on the seabed in 1985 at a depth of around 3.5 kilometres. This expedition to the wreck took place in June 2004.
